I worked on the integration and refurbishment of a second-hand film developing machine a project that required far more than simply moving equipment into place. Because the machine had previously operated in a completely different environment, the lab infrastructure had to be adapted extensively. One of the first major issues was the building’s water supply, which was insufficient for the machine’s operational requirements. To solve this, I designed and installed a cold-water recovery system that redirected cooling water back into the machine as wash water. This reduced water consumption by approximately 10 litres per minute. The project quickly became a combination of infrastructure engineering, sustainability optimization, and industrial refurbishment.
